I like to make holidays special for my family, even Valentine's Day! This way there's always something just around the corner to look forward to. On the each of the 13 days leading up to Valentine's Day we discuss one Bible verse pertaining to love, which I have written on a paper heart. Each day we tape one to the window by our kitchen table. On Valentine's Day the kids wake up and go to the kitchen to see it decorated with ribbon and balloons and all of the hearts we've been placing on the windows. They also find a present or two and some heart pancakes. This year's presents were books and some little felt animals.
We read My Valentine Story by Crystal Bowman which talks about showing God our love for Him and sharing God's love with others. This is a wonderful book for preschool-aged children.
We also play printable Valentine's games that I find online, like this hearts dominoes game from abcteach.com.
And finally we all watch Lady and the Tramp together.
I'd love to know if you have any family Valentine's Day traditions!
